Quick Easy Tasty Pulled Pork Recipe
Quick Easy Tasty Pulled Pork Recipe
I confess. Spending hours in the kitchen is not my thing. Julia Childs I am not! But I do like to eat. So I have learned out of necessity the many quick, easy, tasty ways to cook the foods that I like. No muss, no fuss, simple and fast.
I have always loved pulled pork sandwiches but until I discovered this recipe I thought you had to cook the pork for most of the day and watch it while it cooked. Not so. Here is the simple, quick, easy, tasty recipe I want to share with you. I call it Two-Step Quick and Easy Tasty Pulled Pork.
Only 3 Ingredients
Here is the simple, quick and easy part. You only need three ingredients to make the most moist and filled-with-flavor pulled pork you have ever tasted. Promise.
You can prepare it in a few minutes and then it cooks all by itself in a slow cooker while you catch up on your reading, writing. computing, fantasy life – whatever.
Ingredients: (enough for 6 to 8 piled-high sandwiches)
• One 2-pound pork tenderloin or pork shoulder or pork butt
• One can of root beer (12 ounces)
• One bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce (I like sweet barbecue sauce so I use Sweet Baby Ray's Sweet & Spicy)
• 8 hamburger rolls or hot dog rolls if you are an iconoclast.
Directions:
Step 1 - Place the pork tenderloin or shoulder or butt in your slow cooker.
Step 2 – Pour the entire can of root beer over the meat.
Cute Pig Tricks
That’s the entire preparation – the whole deal. If you like onions, peel and cut one small onion into small pieces and place in the cooker, too.
Cover and cook in your slow cooker for 6 hours or until you can shred the pork easily with a fork.
After it has cooked, drain and discard the root beer. Shred the pork with a fork in each hand, and return it to the slow cooker. Pour the barbecue sauce all over the meat and stir it to combine. You can serve it now or keep it warm in the cooker until you are ready to eat.
Serve over hamburger rolls. You can warm them in your microwave if desired.
What did I tell you? Simple, easy and quick to prepare. And so yummy! Martha Stewart! Eat your heart out.

Bonus: Favorite Pig Joke
I was driving down this country road when I saw what looked like a pig with a wooden leg! I drove into the farmyard and said to the farmer,“I was driving by when I noticed something that I just had to stop and ask you about. Is that your pig out there with a wooden leg?”
The farmer smiled. “Oh, that would be old Romeo you saw. He’s the finest pig a man could ever hope to have – and smart! Well, let me tell you something about that pig. You see that oil well in the field? Old Romeo sniffed and sniffed and dug in the mud until crude oil began bubbling up. Now that well brings me in over $100,000 every single year.”
“He’s a hero, too. One night a few years ago, I tripped and knocked over a lamp and was knocked out cold. That started a fire in the house and old Romeo smelled the smoke. He came running in the back door, nudged the wife and kid out, woke me up, and got me out, too. No question about it – that night old Romeo saved our lives and that’s not the sort of thing a man is going to forget too easily.”
“Wow!” I said. “That’s amazing! This pig is fantastic! But tell me, how did he get that wooden leg? Was he in an accident?”
The farmer laughed and said, “Well, naturally, when you have a pig that fantastic, you know you don’t want to eat him ... all at one time!”
